So does this mean Try and Dor don't get along? Or was it just pre-season competition gone a little too far?

One of the knocks on the big guys is that he does not use the full size. He needs to get meaner. I'm hoping that DD was just trying to bring that out of him in more of a friendly challenge. Something like "Dude, you are twice my size. I'm going to put you on your ass if you don't try to put me on mine" and then called him out on it

I am excited for the preseason games. Looking forward to the team having a little more snarl in the lineup, it's been far too long since we had that.

Also interested to see what some of the new additions can do and how ready the lesser lights are to compete for a job (Etem, Gaunce, Rodin etc.). The depth that Benning has built should make for more interesting hockey.

In past years we all knew what the line-up was going to be usually right down to the 13th forward, the new depth makes that so much harder and a lot more exciting, I'm really interested in the starting night roster and how it will change over the first month of the season.

What are the predictions these days for forward lines??

Sedin/Sedin/Erikson
Sven/Bo/JV
Burrows/Sutter/Hansen
Etem/Granlund/Dorsett

Rodin/Gaunce to fill in as needed?

If Burrows can't play could also see:

Granlund/Sutter/Hansen
Etem/Gaunce/Dorsett

Sedin/Sedin/Erikson
Sven/Bo/Hansen
Rodin/Sutter/Burrows
Etem/Granlund/Dorsett

Gaunce as the extra F
2 of the 3 extra spots are going to go to the D

JV is the one that gets bounced due to his contract flexibility as well as the need to find his game. He needs to play with more urgency and become more well rounded. Green will help with that

That's what i was thinking as well, but i really think we need that dynamic physical presence on the 2nd line (any why i was hoping we landed E Kane).

Hansen is great, but does not belong on the 2nd and is a great great 3rd liner.
Basically, bumping Hansen to the 3rd (where he is better suited) fleshes out the lineup much better imo.

This looks correct. I'm hopeful the D situation will work out well. Have seen a couple people say Larsen and Tryamkin look good together, hope that is our 3rd pairing with Pedan 7th and Sbisa off the team.

i like it.
But that 2nd line seems a bit soft, i keep coming back to it, but that 2nd line RW spot is a problem for me and why i think JV needs to slot in there to add that physical dimension.

I wouldn't count on JV being sent down. He has gained 20 pounds of muscle over the offseason. As long as he hasn't lost any speed he will be a force. Gaunce can hangout in the minors

Jake is going to have to earn it this year, 230 lbs is way to big and slow.

I think it's pretty easy to see we don't have a legit 2nd RW, and I know JV would help our cause physically, but at a certain point you have to question what's best for him. Do you want him now just to hit guys and probably settle into a 2nd/3rd line checking role, or do you want him to develop more and round out his game to maybe reach elite potential?

Management just has to be careful not to mishandle him and miss out on what he could become.

Defense is a lot harder to figure out..

Locks
Edler/Tanev
Hutton/Gudbranson

The last two are going to come from this group:
Tryamkin, Sbisa, Biega, Pedan, Stetcher, Juolevi

Juolevi and Stetcher are the only ones that can be moved without a risk of losing them. Unless they have a lights out camp, they are probably gone
That leaves 4 for 2 starting spots and then the other 2 will get the 2 reserve spots.

Ideally, we trade Spisa for a draft pick. Free some cap space and maybe let Juolevi see the first 9 games.

At the rate he's going now he will become 300 lbs.

Unless there is some sort of a trade there really isn't much in the way of 2nd line RW. I'm not sure if JV is even that guy, but unless something is done by Benning I think that position will be somewhat a revolving spot.

Any news on whether Skille will be signed to a one year, two way contract? Could be good for Utica and a forth line RW call up.
